Jacqueline's Story

I am a California native and have been licensed in aesthetics since 2004. I moved to Scottsdale Arizona in 2005 and after working for both med-spas and plastic surgeons I decided to open my boutique spa in 2009. Scottsdale Skin & Makeup Studio is located in the heart of Scottsdale. I am passionate about skin care with a particular interest in anti-aging modalities. I treat clients ranging in ages from 16-80+ with the majority of my clientele being between the ages of 35 and 55. The relationships I have built with each of my clients puts the color into my successful career- I value each and every one of them and they continue to inspire me to be the best skin care therapist I can be. Outside of my spa I am a wife to my loving and supportive husband Jeremy and together we have been blessed with two amazing children, Miles and Mikaela. I am also a dog mom to our family pet Charlie.

My Accident

Many of my family, friends and long time clients know that in 2018 I had an accident resulting in 1st & 2nd degree burns to my face, neck, chest and arm. The pain was unfathomable. I was taken by ambulance to the Arizona Burn Center in Phoenix where I was evaluated and treated by a wonderful staff and team of doctors. My burns were cleaned and dressed in antibiotic ointment. After evaluating me for a few hours it was decided that was finally stable enough to return home after multiple doses of Morphine and Phentynlol, along with high doses of Tylenol and Ibuprofen. I continued to clean and apply ointment round the clock at home with strict instrustions to stay out of the sun and away from public places due to the seriousness of my injuries. I was told my skin was wide open with direct access to my vascular system making me extremely vulnerable to bacterial infection that could go directly into my blood stream. I oozed plasma out of my skin for days as if I had broken out in a horrible sweat. The human body is extraordinary , all that platelet rich plasma was delivering what my skin needed to heal my raw tissue. Once I was past the first few days I had a follow up appointment to rebride my skin. By the time I was able to ween off the opioids and think straight my esthetician brain kicked in and I used LED light therapy to further help regenerate my wounds. I am lucky to be alive, that my eye sight was not lost or impaired and that I was not permanently disfigured. I am a true believer in LED's ability to assist in the process of wound healing. While I sincerely hope accidents like mine don't happen to anyone else, I'm comforted in knowing that something like LED light therapy is not only simple to use but so beneficial to skin health, wound healing and beyond.

Today

Here at my spa, I incorporate LED light therapy in a variety of advanced facials. LED is most commonly included in Hydrafacial MD and regenerative skin therapies like micro-needlng and chemical peels. Micro-needling (or Collagen Induction Therapy) creates micro-channels via a controlled injury to the skin, thus stimulating the repair process, releasing your body's own growth factors which will induce collagen production. LED is FDA approved, noninvasive, does not burn nor does it incorporate UV rays making it safe for just about anyone.

A Brief History of LED Light Therapy

The very first use of photo therapy was in 1906 when scientist Niels Finsen earned a Nobel Peace Prize and what then became known as light therapy. Light therapy was widely used in Eastern Europe to treat chronic pain, arthritis, and soft tissue damage while simultaneously the United States it was being used by equestrians to rehabilitate soft tissue and joint pain. By 1960 Led Therapy, or LIGHT EMITTING DIODE Therapy as it is now known, was being more broadly researched. In the 1980's scientists and medical clinics where starting to incorporate LED therapy in a wide variety of practices. It was discovered that in addition to using Infrared RED and RED light therapy for soft tissue healing coincidentally patients where looking better too! By the 1990's NASA (that's right NASA) used LED light therapy on astronauts who were ill or injured from long periods of space missions. Today professional sports teams now use light therapy to keep their athletes in top performance shape. Finally, LED light therapy was cleared by the Food and Drug Administration in early 2021 as a class II medical device and is widely used for cosmetic use. There are numerous ongoing research and clinical trials around the world that show promising results in cosmetic dermatology, medical dermatology, cancer studies, and even optometry.

We now know that LED Therapy can improve the following conditions:

-
Arthritis
-
Osteoarthritis
